Rosa García and Adrián Porcel are interdisciplinary artists and researchers whose practices rehearse speculative narratives through which to expose the subliminal figures of the contemporary systemic regime—those whose particularities lead to inevitable destinies. To this end, they convene encounters in which the real and the fictional converge in an unsettling manner. García approaches the territory of gothic fiction, placing photography at the epicenter of her artistic production. Her works make evident the ephemeral logic of the spectral truths of capitalism and respond to the multiple problematics that arise when attempting to inhabit a place that is increasingly diffuse and hallucinatory. Porcel, by contrast, turns to science fiction, with particular attention to sonic registers. His work tests the resilience of prevailing extractivist and anthropocentric models, revealing how identity and environment react to the effects derived from techno-optimism. Together, they integrate these notions into installations that combine image, sound, writing, and action, with the aim of unfolding modes of thinking and producing in contexts of instability, as well as imagining new ways of being in a world that can no longer sustain its old certainties.
